Infrared (IR)

Infrared is a unique way of seeing the world of invisible light.

Infrared photography uses a modified sensor on your camera so that the camera can “see” light in the infrared spectrum. The photos on this page use a 665nm filter that allows some of the visible light and some of the infrared light spectrum to register on the sensor. The 665nm filter allows the traditional white leaves (green shows up as white in infrared) while the skies show through as your traditional blue sky. One of the best aspects of infrared is that one of the best times to take pictures is mid day in the bright sun.
